cheap and chic athletic gear, cheap yoga year, fashion editorial, fashion tip, Jacob Sutton, oysho, september 2014, sports-wear, sporty wear, styling tricks, yoga
Earlier on today during my yoga class a thought came to mind, I know I am not supposed to be thinking about anything else but yoga at yoga-but it is very hard to control my mind at times .I am constantly a prisoner to my countless thoughts and ideas trying to calm my mind and stay present….ughh. Anyways, one of the thoughts that came to my mind was wear my yoga clothes during the day, as I have quite the collection of chic looking sleek athletic wear- I realized that I want to always be this comfortable. Jeans are comfortable but not this comfortable…I feel so light and free in my excercise gear and love the designs and styles in my collection. They are also very flattering .
When I moved to Barcelona I came across this brand OYSHO. I am extremely obsessed with their athletic gear and accesories. They have great designs, in amazing fabrics, each garment beautifully designed in ways to flatter the figure and accentuate some parts and hiding others (check out their online store to see what I mean). The clothes make me want to work out!! Not only are they stylish, they are super inexpensive. I used to love Stella McCartney for Adidas clothing but the prices were always a bit too high for something I would end up sweating in ( even though now I will be strutting in work out gear as well). I am hoping that once I move back to NYC they will open a store there. Until then I am going to be stocking up on my work out gear. If you live in Europe then head to your nearest store and try on some gear (if you have not yet already), if you will be visiting Europe soon I highly recommend stopping in. They also have a great collection of lingerie and sleepwear.
Back to my thought about wearing work out clothes…a few hours later after my yoga class I was super excited to come across this editorial in Numéro Magazine’s October 2014 issue. I love the athletic gear sprinkled through out and styled in such a cool and not so casual way. Showing fall 2014 rtw sporty runway trends in wearable every day looks. I also really love the hair and makeup, very natural and clean with a drop of glamour. I am going to fulfill my idea and mix some athletic pieces in to my daily outfits–stylish and comfortable– also will remind me and give me the extra push work out in in the evening..

The 1995 film Empire Records featuring Liv Tyler as Corey sparks my memory when the kilt comes to mind. Her long lanky legs strutting below that effortlessly cool kilt paired with a cropped sweater and combat boots made the perfect outfit. The ensemble re-appeared in September’s most written about editorial featured in W Magazine. The editorial “Super Normal Super Model’s“ shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, styled by Edward Enninful features Lara Stone, Kate Moss,Daria Werbowy (to name a few) sporting the quintessentially cool kilt and combat boot outfit. Almost 10 years later the kilt and combat boots still remain as fashion staples.
There are so many ways kilts can be worn. In the past I have paired my kilt’s with a mary jane..however, after seeing this editorial I will be pairing my kilts with an awesome pair of boots. You can check out my other post on styling kilts from last year–it’s still pretty relevant. In the mean time I have put together 2 different kilts in 2 different outfits (at good prices…).

I always get so excited for each issue of Vogue Paris, it is by far my favorite magazine. It has been since my freshman year at Parsons School of Design when I began living in NYC and international magazines became available to me. Prior to that I thought W Magazine was the best magazine in the world. When I came across French Vogue it was like a whole new world of fashion, layout, design… I was truly mesmerized. From then on I began subscribing to the magazine. Ever since my first encounter with the magazine- each time I open a new issue of Vogue Paris, as stupid as it sounds, I have that same feeling of excitement and curiosity. I learn something new each issue, wether its styling, conceptual, etc. Yesterday I purchased the September 2014 Issue.
One of the many things that caught my eye in this issue was the editorial “Frenchy“, photographed by David Sims and styled by Emanuelle Alt . I am not only in love with the images, the styling is terribly inspiring. I will certainly be attempting to dress like this–starting today. I found some more affordable options to get the look, and even made some purchases while doing so. (see below)

I just purchased a pair of black super flared jeans at Free People. I had to look around a bit more while on the Free People’s site, they have so many awesome pieces this season. I also purchased this amazing shaggy sweater that I will probably wear as a light jacket this fall, I may even belt it. I was in search of cowboy boots I came across a cool and affordable pair at topshop. I also love the double breasted coat featured in the editorial, I found one at J.Crew, it’s classic and stylish (J.crew always makes a good Pea Coat). For the hat, check out my post on hats of the season here.

chloé fall 2014 shearling suede shoes, fall essentials, lexyrose's wishlist, shearling and suede, shoe love
When I saw these shoes in Chloé’s fall 2014 collection, I fell head over heels. The first thought that came to my head was ‘This shoe will be mine‘. It’s everything in one shoe, pretty(ish), interesting looking, warm (made of shearling and suede), has a rubber sole, and lady-like ankle strap. They are not only nice to look at, they are extremely practical, their rubber soles give a nice grip to the pavement. A shoe that has the ability to be dressed up -with a mid calf skirt (that’s how I will be dressing these beauties up), and or down with a pair of jeans/ankle length pants. I can’t stop thinking about them, and won’t until I purchase them here, and check them off my wish list and ….

Fall is probably my favorite season for fashion. It’s a season full of options in the form of knits, sweaters, boots, textures, beautiful jackets, scarves, socks, knee highs, corduroys, hats, fur ( I could go on-but won’t). A season full of so many possibilities in clothing that it makes styling that much more fun.
I came across this editorial from T Magazine’s September 2014 issue, shot by Craig Mcdean and styled by Joe McKenna. A nice introduction to ease us in to fall featuring key looks and pieces from fall 2014 collection’s. McKenna translates the runway looks and pieces in to wearable day time (some of them more than others) looks by pairing each ensemble with Rick Owen’s over-the-knee sneaker like leather boots. He shows us modern, casual, and slightly tom boy approach for the city girl and or lady..
I will do just about anything to own the full length, double breasted coat by Céline this fall. It’s placed at number 1 on my fall wish list. I find it’s feminine shape, beautiful collar, large button’s, and subtle frayed edges so stunning. I also am very in to a double breasted fit so I know this would be over the top perfection on. It’s also TIMELESS. It’s a jacket that will last for years. So if there is anyone out there that feels like buying it for me just let me know and I will gladly accept. In the meantime, I will find some suitable less expensive options.
note the lovely frayed edges add some beautiful texture and an effortlessly chic element to the garments and over all look. see my previous post on the frey trend here.
I admire the work of Craig McDean and Joe McKenna very much for their abilities to reinterpret fashion and define fashion in a modern way that is so down to earth and real. Craig McDean’s editorials and photographs always end up being those I tear out of magazine’s and or save on my desktop, some of his images reside in my mind and I refer to them time and again while working on set and or coming up with concept’s for shoots. Joe McKenna’s styling always inspires me and sparks me to think about fashion and putting clothing together in new ways, he make’s fashion so approachable for the modern lady to do on her own. This is one way to approach fall… there are many others. I will continue to provide images in the next coming weeks to prepare you and your shopping list for fall shopping.
